Mondelēz International celebrates Purpose Day 2025 through mindful and sustainable snacking
Employees log millions of steps, KMs covered, and calories burned in fitness challenge
Over hundred volunteers pack mindful snacking mealkits for school beneficiaries
MANILA, Philippines – Mondelēz International in the Philippines marked another meaningful Purpose Day, the annual event celebrating the company’s anniversary and long-standing commitment to making a positive impact. With the 2025 theme “Empower Our Future,” the company came together to champion mindful snacking, community engagement, and sustainability actions. This theme is in line with the Company’s Purpose of empowering people to snack right.
One highlight of this year’s celebration was the culmination of the 4th Walk, Run, Bike, and Workout (WRBW) Challenge, a company-wide fitness initiative that encouraged everyone to take charge of their health and live mindfully. Over the course of two months, almost 100 challengers logged over 12 million steps, 5,600 kilometers of running, 4,400 kilometers of biking, and nearly 250,000 calories burned. The friendly competition encouraged colleagues to make time for movement and build healthier habits while having fun along the way.
“Our Purpose Day reminds us that empowering our future starts with us,” said Aleli Arcilla, Managing Director of Mondelēz International. “Through the Walk, Run, Bike, and Workout Challenge, we are not only promoting an active lifestyle but also encouraging our people to make mindful choices every day. It’s about balance, wellness, and taking care of ourselves as we continue to empower others to Snack Right.”
Purpose Day also became an opportunity to give back. Volunteers from the organization lent their time preparing and packing meal kits for students of South Daang Hari Elementary School in Taguig, providing nutritious snacks and food packs for the young learners. The activity reflected the company’s Purpose and its advocacy for Mindful Snacking, showing how empowerment begins with caring for others and sharing what we know about balanced nutrition.
In line with its purpose, the company also highlighted its strong commitment to sustainability. As part of its #SustainableSnacking journey, Mondelēz International continues to go above and beyond compliance by being a zero waste to landfill site. This was further strengthened by encouraging colleagues to segregate their waste every day in pantries and common areas, to ensure each type of waste is diverted properly and does not end up as landfill or marine litter.
“As we celebrate Purpose Day, we are reminded that our purpose and values are lived through everyday actions,” added Arcilla. “By taking care of our health, our communities, and our environment, we are building a future that reflects who we are and what we stand for as an organization.”
Through mindful snacking, community engagement, and an unwavering commitment to sustainability, Mondelēz International continues to bring its Purpose to life and inspire its teams to create lasting impact for people and the planet — truly empowering the future, one mindful choice at a time.
